Picture this: ten years ago, I was told by a church friend about the amazing health benefits of veganism. Next thing I knew I was home watching Youtube videos and crying my eyes out over the animal cruelty in the meat and dairy industry. Once I wiped away my last tear I knew that there was no going back. Back then information about plant-based living was pretty limited, but I had my heart set on the wonderful world of veganism. It wasn’t just about changing what was on my plate; it was about embracing a lifestyle fueled by kindness, eco-consciousness, and the occasional craving for vegan ice cream.

Challenges? Oh, you bet! From deciphering ingredient labels like a vegan Sherlock Holmes to mastering the art of plant-based cooking and baking, there were moments when I wondered if I’d ever find a decent kebab substitute (hint: It’s at Anixi in New York City). Where there’s a will, there’s a way, and let me tell you, the world of vegan meat has come a long way!

Triumphs? Oh, honey, let me count the ways! Not only did I discover a whole universe of delicious plant-based foods – seriously, have you ever tried jackfruit tacos? I have a great recipe in my cookbook – but I also found a tribe of fellow veg enthusiasts who understood the struggle of finding vegan-friendly eats in a world obsessed with bacon.

As I celebrate a decade of vegan vibes, I can’t help but marvel at how far the world has come. It’s a veggie revolution, baby, and we’re leading the way!
